On July 29, 2001, the ‘Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful
Movement’ was repelled by violent Muslim demonstrations from Jerusalem's Temple Mount, where they had come to place a new cornerstone for the construction of a third Temple of Solomon.
The group was led by one Gershon Salomon,
a former Israeli Army officer and follower of the somewhat
improbably-named Rabbi Tzvi Yehuda Kook.
